Best tweets about Neurodivergence
by tweethunter
Neurodivergence refers to the natural variations in brain functioning and cognitive styles that differ from what society considers typical or "neurotypical." It encompasses a broad range of neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other conditions.
Neurodivergent individuals may have unique strengths, perspectives, and ways of processing information that contribute to the diversity of human experience.
Embracing neurodivergence encourages understanding, acceptance, and the creation of inclusive environments that value and accommodate diverse neurological profiles.

I wish neurotypicals would look inward when they are trying to support the neurodivergent people in their lives. Supporting neurodivergent people is not just about learning new behaviours, it's also about understanding and questioning neurotypical assumptions about the world

it's actually ableist to make fun of elon because he's neurodivergent. many of the things he does come from a place of misenterpreting context and it hurts my heart to see people ridicule him for it. do better.

I deeply respect the work of copyeditors who meticulously review work and have so generously helped in a challenging process that can be deeply inaccessible to me as someone who is neurodivergent. However, I am so disappointed at the casual forms of ableism and racism that occur.

It's so sad to me, a neurodivergent introverted person, that sometimes people misunderstand me and think I don't care about them or important topics just because I'm not super vocal outside of streams๐ฅบ I don't think I'll ever get away from that misconception either๐ฅ

"Oversharing" is not in and of itself a relationship red flag. It may just be a sign someone is autistic. But I guess I'm not surprised to see that rhetoric going around because NT people love to be phobic of neurodivergent people.

Neurodivergent people generally receive more negative feedback for completely inconsequential things than neurotypical people. When we're repeatedly told even the smallest things we're doing are wrong, self-worth, self-esteem, and self-love can be incredibly hard.

Noโyou do NOT have Aspergerโsโyou are NOT on the autism spectrumโyou are NOT neurodivergent. You are simply a spoiled brat who got whatever you wanted from your over-indulgent, discipline-averse parents, and now youโre surprised the wider world doesn't put up with your bullshit.

Neurodivergent people are often at a disadvantage in interviews. Interview success typically requires you to intuit what a (usually) NT interviewer wants and say it to them in a way they want to hear it (hard when youโre not NT), and any atypical behaviours are seen as red flags.
