I'd rather do something myself, f*ck it up, learn how to do it properly, and then succeed. Over hiring a coach to tell me exactly what to do and learn nothing for myself but succeed anyway.

@johnb_spThe college I went to is home to one of the most historically successful college lacrosse programs in the country. Every day walking into our athletic training complex, you would see 5-6 guys in a line bouncing balls off the wall to work on their hand eye coordination and transfers It was one of their daily “non-negotiables” as a player on the team. They had to complete them to meet the standards of being a player at the top level of college lacrosse. For baseball guys, it’s hard to incorporate something like this into your routine because of localized stress on the arm and the accumulation of it at sustained, long term, Lower effort throws However, this is my new favorite way to incorporate lighter days into your throwing program. Here’s a few reasons why: -keeps you moving around and active. You can do it barefoot. Get that grounding/lymph work in while you throw. Double trouble! -regulates intensity: if you throw it too hard, it will come back just as fast. Keeping the intensity to a solid ground ball coming back at me means I’m throwing at just the right intent -no thoughts. Literally just enjoying throwing. Being a kid. Find a wall. Get your reps in. Get out of the dome.

@polak_jasperManagers work for output. Leaders work for value creation. Never confuse the two: Output = the work done Outcome = result of the output Value = the advantage or improvement No one pays for the work you do. They pay for the result you create. Run your team accordingly.

@jasonlkA truly high performing team gets brought down by even one mediocre player The better the team, the faster you have to root the mediocre out

@ellebeecherBe the personality hire. We’re taught to compete, so we think our edge comes from being the smartest, most confident, most impressive person in the room. The real winner? That one delightful human who always uplifts the group’s energy because they’re so warm, present, and open.

@mgontoAt Vercel, some of the leaders have a channel called `brain-{leaderName}` where they share daily: * What they're thinking about and their reflections * How they see the market and the current thing * Who they talked to and what they learned (Customers, prospects, peers, etc.). * New ideas they're playing with I love this format! It's a great way for the entire company to learn how the founder and leaders think and get exposure to some of their learnings and the inner workings of their heads. It's a great and easy way to instill the founder's culture into everybody in the company.

@KevinDeShazoGreat teams pass on toxic talent. Talent that, under stress, become coach killers, program killers, culture killers. Part of building a great culture is protecting that culture by who you let in. Talent matters but character is the difference maker. pic.twitter.com/B6mMGLlaSo
