People have email marketing all wrong… they think subject lines affect open rates.

But what if I told you they don’t?

For my blog, no matter what email I send out, I typically always have a 30% plus open rate.

Even when I make mistakes in my subject line or misspell words.

And for Ubersuggest and Answer the Public, our open rates are closer to 54%.

What matters more than the subject line is the sender.

For example, anytime someone at my company sends me an email, I open it.

Why? Because I know them, and typically, it is important.

On the flip side, when I wake up in the morning, I tend to have over 100 new emails in my inbox.

And I go to sleep with no unread emails.

But in the morning, I can go through 100-plus emails in less than 5 minutes.

I select 80% or so of the emails and mark them as read without reading them.

But, with the remaining 20%, I open them. It’s not because of the subject line; it’s because I either know the sender or have heard of the sender.

So, instead of focusing too much time and energy on your subject lines, focus on building up your authority and brand.

The more people who know you or your company, the better your sender reputation will be because more people will open the email.

In essence, spend time on branding. It will increase your open rates more than just focusing on the subject line.

If I was on a call with an email marketing agency and I asked them what their offer was, 9 times out of 10 I’d get “We do email marketing and we help companies make more money with emails”.

That is not an offer.

That is a service they provide.

An offer is how you communicate your value to your target market.

How you solve your client’s pain points.

A winning offer aims to solve the problems of your target audience.

An offer is not the service you provide, it’s not what your clients get from you.

It’s not the price you charge.

It’s the output, results, and benefits your clients get when they work with you.

Now there are 2 types of offer you can have.

A marketing offer.

And a business offer.

A marketing offer is gonna be your front-end stuff.

Things like ebooks, webinars, templates, etc.

Products pretty much.

A business offer is gonna be your back-end stuff.

This is something you with with existing customers to deliver value and business to them.

Service-based businesses for example.

Doing web design, providing SEO, running ads, etc.

Now create whatever offer you wish.

You need to understand the 3 elements of a broken-down offer.

Who is it for?

What do they want?

How do they get it?

I’m going to create an offer scenario and then break it down so you can see how to piece together an offer just from what you can provide to people.

Example Offer 1: SEO for B2B Service Providers

Offer: "We boost B2B service providers' website traffic by 60% in 6 months, reducing the need for cold outreach by enhancing their search engine visibility through comprehensive SEO strategies."

Breakdown:

Who is it for? - It's for B2B service providers aiming to increase their website visibility and traffic.

What do they want? - They want more traffic driven to their website so they can reduce or eliminate the need for cold outreach.

How do they get it? - They get it through a comprehensive SEO strategy that enhances their search engine visibility and ranking.

Now you know what different offer breakdowns look like.

Let’s move on to the 2 types of offers you can have.

Performance or fixed.

A performance-based offer is based on how big of a result you can achieve for a business or an individual.

Let’s imagine I hire you as a web designer.

For every sale I close through the website you made me, I pay you a percentage.

This is best for newly found agencies as the trust level is not there yet.

So if you work for someone for a performance-based payment, they’ll probably feel a little more at ease knowing they don’t lose out if you don’t deliver.

These offers are best if you’re just starting as no one is gonna pay a brand-new agency a flat fee of $5000.

Or if you’re scaling because not everyone is going to want to pay a fixed price but the percentage of revenue that you make them.

A fixed-based pricing fee is a flat fee of usually a couple thousand dollars.

This is a better pricing model to use once you’ve built up enough reputation to charge people said fixed fee.

Normally, if you’re working month to month, you’d charge them a straight-out flat fee of $5000 per month for example.

Now the first step in creating an offer is finding what you’re going to build that offer around.

To create an offer from your skill you simply take your skill and come up with a few ideas of what you can do with that skill.

That will then be your niche.

You need to do this before you craft an offer otherwise you’ll be confused asf when it comes to targeting etc.

I broke down some avenues you can go down with our offer example.

Web Design

Web design encompasses a broad range of services aimed at creating and enhancing online experiences. 

Here's how it can be broken down into specialized niches:

CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization): Focused on improving the effectiveness of a website to increase the percentage of visitors who complete a desired action, such as making a purchase or signing up for a newsletter.

Landing Page Design: Specializes in creating targeted pages aimed at converting visitors from a specific marketing campaign, ensuring the design and message align perfectly to achieve high conversion rates.

Funnels: Involves designing a series of pages that lead the visitor through a step-by-step journey towards making a purchase or becoming a lead, optimizing each step for maximum conversion.

Revamps: Concentrates on updating and redesigning existing websites to improve aesthetics, user experience, and modernity, often to align with new branding or to improve performance metrics.

Okay now you have some potential ideas of what you can do with your skill, it’s time to figure out who you will perform that offer for.

In other words, you’re gonna pick your target audience.

Now picking a target audience is as simple as finding out who requires your skills the most.

Fitness coaches will require traffic to their coaching landing pages.

Agency owners will need leads from SEO coming to them.

Creators selling ebooks will want X ads done for them.

It’s all about taking your skill and figuring out who would benefit from it the most.

Take their problem, take your skill, and figure out if you can solve their problem with your skill.

Using our example, here are a few scenarios I came up with.

Web Design - Landing Pages

Target Audience: E-commerce brands and online retailers looking to improve their product launch success rate and overall sales through high-converting landing pages.

Web Design - CRO

Target Audience: Online service providers and SaaS companies seeking to optimize their existing website performance and conversion rates to maximize customer acquisition and retention.

Web Design - Funnels

Target Audience: Digital product creators, including course creators and e-book authors, aiming to streamline their sales process and increase revenue through effective sales funnels.

Web Design - Revamps
Target Audience: Established B2B tech companies looking to modernize their online presence and align their website with current UX/UI best practices to attract more enterprise clients.

And once you’ve found that target audience, it’s time to create the offer.

Now using everything I taught you, you’re going to take your skill and niche, your target audience, and then come up with a solution for the problems you’ve identified.

Here are some examples building on the skill we’ve been looking at and the target audiences etc.

Web Design

1. Landing Pages for E-commerce Brands and Online Retailers

Offer: "We elevate e-commerce brands and online retailers by crafting high-converting landing pages, leading to a 50% increase in direct sales, through our specialized web design services."

2. CRO for Online Service Providers and SaaS Companies

Offer: "We transform online service providers and SaaS companies' websites into high-performing conversion machines, boosting customer acquisition by 60% with our conversion rate optimization expertise."

3. Funnels for Digital Product Creators

Offer: "We assist digital product creators, including course creators and e-book authors, in doubling their sales funnel efficiency, resulting in a 45% increase in revenue through tailored web design strategies."

4. Revamps for Established B2B Tech Companies

Offer: "We revamp established B2B tech companies' websites, modernizing their online presence to attract more enterprise clients and increase lead generation by 35% with our cutting-edge web design solutions."

Feel free to take these offers.

I don’t do any of them so you’re more than welcome to use them.

Make sure you can provide what you offer first.

Now in terms of how you can offer these.

There are 3 different offer types.

High, mid and low.

High-ticket offers involve products or services that are priced at the upper end of the scale. These are generally substantial investments for the buyer.

Medium ticket offers fall in between high and low ticket offerings.

Low ticket offers involve products or services priced at the lower end of the scale.

Here is how you can offer the offers we’ve come up with so far using these different ticket levels.

Web Design - Landing Pages

Target Audience: E-commerce brands and online retailers.

High Ticket: Custom landing page design package including A/B testing, personalized UX/UI design, and ongoing optimization based on user behavior analysis.

Mid Ticket: Standard landing page design with a set number of revisions and predefined templates customized to the brand.

Low Ticket: Basic landing page setup using existing templates with minimal customization.

Web Design - CRO

Target Audience: Online service providers and SaaS companies.

High Ticket: Comprehensive CRO package with extensive website audit, user behavior analysis, personalized strategy development, and implementation with continuous A/B testing.

Mid Ticket: Standard CRO service including website audit and implementation of key strategies without the ongoing optimization component.

Low Ticket: Basic CRO audit with a report of recommendations for the client to implement.

Web Design - Funnels

Target Audience: Digital product creators.

High Ticket: Fully customized sales funnel design and development, including email sequences, landing pages, and checkout process optimization with analytics integration.

Mid Ticket: Semi-custom funnel setup using proven templates with some level of personalization and basic email sequence creation.

I ran the numbers and found out that the Optimal Onboarding Capacity is one.

That's one new brand per month we'll be able to take, while deploying our full artillery, strategies and tactics. And while keeping the service delivery for all other partners high.

2) We'll also be limited by the number of clients we can work with at any single time.

I ran the numbers and found out that the Optimal Client Portfolio number was 8.

We'll manage up to eight brands' email campaigns full-time, while also improving their flows. This considers the occasional Flow Implementation every few months when we have the capacity.

That will mean I have to be selective with the type of brands I work with:

- I don't do one-month contracts – my clients value long-term partnerships.
- I don't work with cost minimizers - my clients are revenue maximizers.
- I don't work with sinking businesses - my clients are industry leaders, riding waves.

Despite this, 8 partners are enough.

We'll get paid in direct proportion to the value we bring to the table. Meaning Email Engineers will max out at $80-100k per month – and that's fine.

I'm not building Email Engineers as a way to get rich, but to fuel other investments and give money back to causes I feel are close to my heart.
