@thaddeusthought"My friend grew up in New England where they have pigeons. Apparently they also hate them. He was always saying bad things about pigeons until I pointed something out that he never thought of before: We domesticated pigeons. They are (nearly) all over the world because HUMANS BROUGHT THEM THERE. And, they were more than pets. They carried messages. People raced them. They lived spoiled lives as honored human companions for centuries. Then we got telephones and we threw them out like trash. Literally, we threw them away. Their species had already been fully domesticated and they could not survive in the wild; they lost all their survival instincts during the centuries that they lived caged by people. That is why they live in cities with people instead of in a forest somewhere. It's OUR fault. And not only did we throw them away, but now humans curse them as "winged rats;" casting them as pests. But they don't know how to live without us, and their instincts tell us that they should trust us. So, they continue to come up to humans and beg for food, because it's the only survival skill left in their genes. They love us because they were bred by us to feel that way, and yet we hate them."
My unpopular opinion about pets is that whenever I remember that my dog doesn’t have full color vision I get kinda sad thinking she can’t entirely grasp my outfits

@TracyWesterman#puppykiller is trending on Twitter for the reasons you would expect. A poor defenceless puppy was shot in the face by American Governor Kristi Noem and abandoned in a gravel pit. This is Rusty-I got him at 18 months old-he was traumatised to the point that he literally was too afraid to go to the toilet. I had to pick him up to take him outside. He was so anxious he then started weeing on beds, on furniture. I loved him anyway. He got me through the darkest time of my life-got me out of bed each day to walk him. He loved me unconditionally. He died at 15yrs old in my arms. He had a beautiful life -one he deserved! He has forever changed my life. Not once did I consider abandoning him. I can’t fathom shooting a defenceless puppy just because you don’t want him. #PuppyKiller
HOW THIS DOG SAVED MAN UTD FROM BANKRUPTCY IN 1901. On the night of 2nd March 1901, a dog called 'The Major' went missing in Manchester, and the dog belonged to Newton Heath [now Man Utd] full-back and captain Harry Stafford. The dog was found by a wealthy businessman, John Henry Davies, who was eager to buy it for his daughter. Davies tracked down the owner of the dog, Stafford, and made an offer which was rejected. However, Newton Heath was at severe risk of bankruptcy, so Stafford eventually gave in and the dog became Davies's dog, just in time for his daughter's 12th birthday. As a result, Davies became interested in Newton Heath's financial plight and together with four other investors, including Stafford, he rescued the club from bankruptcy and became its new chairman. That club today, is Manchester United Football Club. ❤️

The dog chased after the car for several blocks but he could not keep up. The video was filmed by a food delivery driver which caught the attention of Destiny Gomez, a woman who finds homes for stray animals. Gomez searched for the dog and eventually found him hours later. She fed and groomed him and was quickly able to find a foster home. "When I watched that video, it broke my heart. I could not stop crying. I could not keep the dog out of my mind," she said to NBC Los Angeles. Video: ig briianna.kc

@catturd2Just so you know … If you find a dog “untrainable” and you feel like the only answer is to shoot it in cold blood - I’ll gladly take the dog to live on the Catturd ranch until I can find - a loving home. All my abused rescues are so hard to take care of at first but if you give them maximum love, eventually, they’ll turn into the most beautiful, loving gifts you’ll ever know.
