A social credit system is a model used in China that rewards individuals for playing by certain rules and punishing people who don’t. We went through a version of this in western societies with vaccine passports and we are being suckered into this with a digital version on X.

Mercury is an amazing product. All founders should bank with them IMO. They constantly go above and beyond, their support is top notch, and their app is a delight to use. Even crazier story: 5 years ago, when I was a nobody, the founder @immad hopped on a 30 minute call with me to help me prep for a YC interview. Dude didn't have to do that, but I'll never forget it. Reason I'm tweeting is they just helped me with a thing that I KNOW other banks wouldn't go out of their way to do.

Tether is the greatest business in the world. You give them dollars. They give you Tether tokens which are essentially entries in a database. They use your dollars to buy US bonds yielding 5%. They use the yield to buy #bitcoin for their balance sheet. GG 🫡

Traditional banks are losing new checking account grounds, while fintechs are fast expanding their market share, per Cornerstone Advisors' 2024 report. From 2020 to 2024, traditional banks saw an 11 percentage point decline in share of new accounts, while digital banks and fintechs grew from 36% to 47%. #Fintech success can be credited to superior digital experiences. A quarter of customers conduct all banking activities online, prioritizing the best possible online experience. Fintechs also typically offer higher interest rates, lower banking fees, widespread ATM network access, helpful interactive budgeting tools and strong customer support.
