Hitting the gym and eating right is a walk in the park compared to the real struggle. Panting and struggling to tie your shoes because your belly is in the way. That's hard. Being so out of shape that you're gasping for air after climbing a flight of stairs? That's hard.

Getting in shape is a high ROI activity. I see the ripple effects it has on people's lives all the time. Men come to me, get in better shape and then report improved energy and productivity - then they get promotions or do better in business. Relationships improve too.

Two things here: 1. Tracking various metrics related to diet and movement allows you to make adjustments to get your body where you want it to be. 2. The approach to diet has to be a permanent change if you want permanent results. t.co/aLJIlIzRUg

Did a workout last night... Had my pre-sleep protein... Went to bed 8 hours before I had to be up... Then got about 4-5 hours sleep broken up. No matter how perfect you try to be, life will conspire against you as a parent to young kids. Don't use it as an excuse.

Not having time to go to the gym is not a reason to completely neglect your health altogether.

Reminder that if you want to be ripped this summer, you probably need to start losing excess fat now.

Dumbbells and barbells are incredibly useful tools, especially for home training as they're versatile and take up minimal space. BUT many of the best exercises for building muscle are machine and cable variations. Don't be a free weights snob,

Always saddens me when I see old people with very low muscle mass, incredibly frail, unable to walk unaided. If you regularly lift weights and eat protein you can avoid that.

"You're training like a sissy" Overheard this the last time I was in a gym. Harsh, but maybe what needed to be heard! If you're stopping sets before the weights start to slow down, you're not training anywhere near hard enough. Just wasting your time.

Don't get too caught up in metrics from your wearable. If you look at it and think "my sleep sucked last night" you'll use that to justify laziness and poor performance. You'll be more likely to have a bad workout because you're already telling yourself you're tired.
