Typefully is a Twitter or ‘X’ engagement tool designed to help you improve your social media strategy by writing, scheduling, and analyzing content for Twitter. But, is it the right fit for your current needs?
This article reviews this web-based tool based on its features, pricing, comparison with competitors, and more. It’ll provide detailed insights that will help you choose the best tool for you.

Review in Summary

While it has some interesting features like the AI writer and cross-posting which can save a lot of money on subscriptions, Typefully has its shortcomings.
Due to its limited analytics and zero lead-generation features, it won’t be ideal for businesses looking to find leads or potential clients.  This tool is, however, great for individuals growing a personal brand or creators who want to monetize their accounts.

Pros

  • AI writing assistant that can follow custom prompts
  • There’s a free plan
  • You can post the same content to your other platforms like Threads and LinkedIn
  • Collaborate with your team and add restrictions to make it more organized

Cons

  • The free plan is very limited that you cannot even use the scheduling feature on this plan
  • Analytics are quite generic and do not offer detailed insights beyond vanity metrics
  • You cannot track who engages with your Tweets online or create lists with these people.
  • There is no mobile app

Typefully Features Breakdown

Here are the top features from Typefully we used first-hand and what you can use them for:

1. Personalized Rewrites and Inspiration Using AI

When drafting your tweets, you can use Typefully AI to make them better aligned with your brand guidelines. For example, you can fix grammatical errors, improve sentence structure, or even rewrite it to change the entire tone or use case.

After getting the first rewrite, you can even add a custom prompt until it gives you the most optimal result. Plus it works the same way ChatGPT works, so there’s no learning curve. Just tap on the Typefully AI button - it’s next to the image button in drafts.

2. Schedule Posts and Retweets

You don’t have to manually hit the publish button every time you want this post to go live. Typefully allows you to schedule tweets months ahead. After drafting the tweet, simply tap on the ‘Schedule’ button. This allows you to choose either the next free slot, add to a queue, or even optimize for best performance by choosing the best time based on previous engagement.

In this section, you can also set up automatic retweets, automatic DMs, or Auto plugs. This allows you to retweet your own post for a wider reach a few hours after the initial post. Auto plug lets you add your links, resources, and more as a follow-up tweet.
Auto DMs, which are usually used for giveaways, are a great way to drive engagement. Simply ask your audience to leave a comment to receive a specific resource in their DMs. With this feature, you can immediately send the DM once they leave a comment instead of manually doing this.

3. Cross-post to Your Other Platforms

Rather than manually scheduling posts across your other social platforms, you can simply post your Twitter drafts to similar apps. For example, if you also have a Threads account, it’s easier to just post the same content because it's pretty much the same content.

You can directly post your drafts from Typefully to Twitter, LinkedIn, Threads, and Mastodon. The app is still including new platforms and you can even vote on the next platforms to integrate with.

To access this feature, after curating your draft, tap on the ellipsis button next to the ‘X’ icon. You’ll get a dropdown of tools to post your draft on. Simply toggle the button you’d want, preview and approve. Do keep in mind that you will be asked to connect these accounts before your draft can go live.

4. Collaborate with Your Team

This is a unique feature that allows you to add your team members to your account on Typefully. Your team can help review and approve drafts by adding new members by sending them an invite link.

First, you select the account you want to share with the team and send out invites. Your team members will have to log into Typefully with their own Twitter account, so keep this in mind. You can also set permissions like view or comment only. This way, not everyone will have access to edit or delete your drafts directly.

5. Typefully Analytics

Metrics on Typefully are quite generic because they just give you an overall summary of how your account is performing. It focuses more on vanity metrics like number of followers, impressions, engagement rate, and streaks. You can set up a goal for how consistently you want to post, and you can track how well you stick to these goals.
notion image
When it comes to your posts, however, you can’t exactly sort by best-performing posts, as it just shows the metrics for each post. If you want to identify this, you’ll have to download it as a CSV and then figure out the data on your own.
There are also no metrics showing you people who interacted with your post or potential clients. Plus, you can only get analytics for up to one year.

6. Integrate with Your Other Tools

Whether it's social media management tools or even your in-house CRM, you can integrate the tools you use daily with Typefully. You can either generate an API key or connect with Zapier.
Since Zapier is a third-party integration tool, you can access over 1000 tools through this connection. However, Zapier is not a unique feature, and it's something you can expect from any other tool. Typefully also provides documentation and other guides to ensure you have a smooth integration.

Pricing - How Much Does Typefully Cost?

Since it’s a very simple tool with not many robust features, Typefully has a very low pricing plan. For starters, it has a free plan. This free plan has limited features which do not include cross-posting, an AI writer, Auto DMs, and scheduling tweets or retweets.

The paid plans, which start at $12.50/month, provide these features without restrictions.
Plus, the only key difference between the Creator plan and others is that you can create a team and invite them to join you.
