I was never fat and out of shape. I was skinny and weak. Went to the gym with friends and they had to take weights off the bar for me. But my intense competitive streak drove me. Now I'm the one they ask for fitness advice.

Before I had kids, I trained for 4-5 hours per week. As a dad, I train 4-5 hours per MONTH. And I'm more muscular than I was before. The difference is proper intensity and technique.

I had a very generous boss once who gave all of his employees a paid gym membership. He understood that health, fitness and feeling good = higher productivity. This is what got me into lifting. Today he's just signed up for my program Shred in 60. Life is weird.

You don't need to eat organic, grass-fed, wild-caught food to get massive health benefits. The standard meat, fish and vegetables are a massive upgrade from what most eat.

My 5 year old son sometimes falls asleep in the car. He's big for his age. I carry him up to his room on the third floor and place him gently onto the top bunk. Without waking him up. I would struggle to do this if I didn't lift.

Things I hate: - Battle ropes - Burpees - Mountain climbers - Many other exercises So I don't do them. The things you MUST do in your program are principles, not specifics.
