This is now happening and the pay is above Berlin sr eng levels. For senior engineers, I’m hearing Doordash is paying €120-150K/year total comp in Berlin (€90-110K base salary, $130-210K stock over 4 years). Hello competition! t.co/pWpdln67wR

When recruitment feels hard at places like Stripe - a company with a great brand, solid engineering culture, approachable cofounders, top compensation and on track to go public soon - you know we’re in a job seeker’s market. t.co/WGyuvlHy0q

Damn, I did *not* expect so many companies tick almost all boxes on The Pragmatic Engineer test (at least from the ones who filled it). Here's a list of companies that seems to have a good engineering culture, all-round (at least one team in the company, that is). t.co/ZqBDh3wk3j t.co/gsr8tQxQIC

With Amazon announcing they will allow remote work* *with and only with approvals from L7/L8 Let me share how I’ve observed lots of long-tenured engineers & EMs leave Amazon recently. A hot market where Amazon caliber talent can get a lot more probably doesn’t help either. t.co/2pwtoTzUzZ

Here's a "test" I've put together to get a sense of what working at a tech company could be like - and things that are typically not advertised on job boards. Places with more "yes"es are typically more eng-friendly, and predictable cultures. What is your take? t.co/jOa1oeD43g

The twist on an the ongoing Facebook outage is that infra/oncall teams at FB likely use their own, in-house chat service on top of t.co/HTjjifnz2J or FB workspaces to communicate while resolving outages. Now this is also down. Good thing Whatsapp is still up. Oh wait…

There is so little information written about equity for tech employees, and even less by software engineers who benefitted from it. Uber and Square engineer @mcdickenson wrote the book Equity Compensation for Tech Employees, which fills this gap. Here's the table of contents: t.co/DgguejvvwQ

I'm leaving money on the table, but I am ignoring *all* opportunities related to crypto that have anything to do with PoW (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum). These currencies waste incredible energy amounts - contributing to global warming - and generate huge amounts of e-waste.

Lots of people: "I have no idea how to compare startup offers in a decision that impacts my next years." Resourceful people: "I defined these N dimensions important for me - between company, package, equity & culture - & reversed interviewed the companies to answer all of them."

I dug deeper and the Amplitude founder is a legend. They were the *first* company to introduce a 10-year post-termination exercise window. Their lawyers said they cannot be done. They did it, and open-sourced it, other companies following. The implications of this are massive: t.co/7Gg06rh0Yd
