I typically don't like long books above 500 pages. Such a commitment! But, I've been working through The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany. It's like a 1,500 page book on Hitler's rise and fall. Have said "oh my god" SO many times.
I wanted to read this because I love the 1900-1950 era and wanted to see how WW2 and Hitler impacted that time. But also because I was curious how 1 person could convince people to do such horrible things. This book did a good job of answering the 2nd question.
