First, do I feel watermarking every photo or video you publish online has value? 

Yes & No...

Yes, because if you're a smaller creator with the advantage of time, it is worthwhile to watermark all published content because it will only help more people find you online. 

However, it's not going to stop piracy of your content...

Watermarks can easily be cropped out, blurred, or removed from content altogether. So if the purpose of watermarking is to that end - it won't be an effective solution...

This is why watermarking isn't a good solution for larger creators whose goal is to stop piracy or leaks of their content, nor is it worth their time to add watermarks to every piece of content they post.

As far as 'copyright' goes, the person who snaps the photo or presses record on the video automatically holds the copyright on the content unless there is a release form to someone else as the copyright holder.

So, if you're self-shooting all your content (even if it's not watermarked), you are the copyright holder and request its removal via DMCA. This leads us to the final & in my opinion, most important piece of this conversation...DMCA services.

Most creators aren't aware, but you can actually look up the Google transparency reports on DMCA services. It will tell you how successful they are at removing or delisting your pirated content. Many of our 'most known' DMCA services in adult actually have low removal rates...
