I follow a lot of creators in the adult space.. recently one of them lost their home from a tornado. Last year, another one lost their home in a fire. A few times a year, friends or online acquaintances have real-life situations that take them offline - and for good reason..

They're in crisis. 

The downside about working for yourself, especially as a smaller creator, is that going offline impacts your business & therefore - your livelihood. I don't think many of us prepare for times like there - and why would we?

No one wants to think of the worst-case scenario in life - but if we don't, we can't prepare for it. 

Here are some of the steps I took this year to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best.

1. I got life insurance
The reality is that I support a lot of people with my income. If something ever happened to me, I wanted to make sure I left my loved ones with enough $ to cover the expenses of putting me to rest and whatever bills or debts may need to be settled.

2. My team has a plan
If I need to go offline for any reason, whether it be health, personal reasons, or the loss of a loved one, everyone on my team has a system or process in place to run things for at least a 1-week to 1-month period 'business as usual'.

3. I'm working to get ahead. FAR ahead. 
One of my biggest goals for all my businesses is to get scheduled SO FAR AHEAD in content & social posts that if I were to go offline for a crisis - no one would even notice...

Because I'd be so ahead on creating new or required content, it would be undetectable. I'm not quite there yet, but that's where I'm hoping to be in the next 6 months..
