We went out to Coco’s, a family restaurant chain (Americans: think Denny’s), and were surprised to find our waiter was a robot / tablet integrated system.

The tablet app is exactly what you expect, and the tablet stays on the table.

And of course because Japan there is a printed sheet of instructions informing you that at the kitchen’s discretion dinner may be delivered by robot, how to operate it (take food, hit Done, do not get run over), and to feel free to speak to a human if you have any questions.
