I think people may fail to appreciate the creative tsunami coming as this goes from “Hope you can install a Python toolchain” to “It’s built into an app and you don’t have to understand what it is doing.”

What do you need to make someone into the anime Santa Claus version of themselves? Five photos, basically anything you’d put on social media will do, and a few minutes on an M1 Mac.

A thing I’m going to try sometime when I get a few hours free: ingest official character art from Wrath of the Righteous, then style transfer myself into a character portrait for the PC. That seems… wild that it is a thing that is not merely technically possible but ~trivial.

“Copyright?” Personal use, transformative use, non-commercial, doesn’t hurt market for original since by necessity they already sold that to me to have the game to run it in, etc etc.

(You’d think a creative marketing team would start making custom character portraits of every e.g. YouTuber they approach to review the game once cost of a custom portrait asymptotically approaches the cost of finding the YouTuber’s email address to send it to them.)
