Trading is war. War against others. War against yourself. After half a decade on the frontlines, I've gained some precious wisdom. Let me present you my survival guide: 🧵
1. Adopt a contrarian mindset In this war... Most people simply charge headfirst into the frontlines without a second thought. This looks like: • FOMO entering on pumping assets. • Panic selling near the bottom. • Zero semblance of a trading plan/system
Instead... Do what others do not. Have the courage to: • Ignore the popular coins • Buy the "boring" coins • Sell the green candles • Buy the red candles And most importantly... Have a system. When price does x. You follow: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Do this and you will win.
2. Prepare like a warrior If war started tomorrow you wouldn't waste time on TikTok or junk food. You'd fuel, meditate, gear up, and rest. Markets are your Colosseum, your opponents? • Hedge funds algorithms • Near-unlimited capital of central banks • Seasoned pro traders
Would you risk half-hearted preparation? Unlikely. Every veteran trader can confirm: A healthy routine elevates trading performance.
3. Gather Intelligence As a general, would you send troops into war without assessing enemy strength, studying terrain, or forecasting enemy moves? Prolly not. Right? Similarly, in trading we need to study the environment.
Understand the higher timeframe trend. Is it bullish? Bearish? How is the macroeconomic enrivonment looking like? Quantitative tightening? Or easing? Ignoring intel is asking for your capital to be slaughtered. Always analyze before trading.
4. Be Water Markets are a battlefield with ever-changing conditions. The finest generals adapt to new information, not rigidly adhering to a single strategy. As a trader, be adaptable.
If a trade doesn't react as expected, cut it. Consider a trade in the opposite direction. Be ready to alter your bias, especially when markets suggest you're wrong Most people would rather trade what their mind want them to believe rather than reading the markets objectively
As Bruce Lee said: “Empty your mind. Be shapeless, like water. It can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend”
