How walking helps fat loss.

Fat loss simply boils down calories in vs. calories out. 

There are nuances, but the core principle is creating a calorie deficit. 

While diet plays a big part in getting into a calorie deficit (and should be the priority), don't underestimate the power of moving more.

Avoiding 500 extra calories is easier than burning them off. 

But what if you're already cutting calories but progress is slow?

Let's use an example: 

You're 200 lbs aiming for 180. 

After 2 months, you've only dropped 2 lbs. 

At this pace, your goal feels like an eternity away. 

You're probably only in a slight deficit and are close to your maintenance intake.

Increasing daily steps could be an easy win. 

A lot of people barely hit 3,000 steps a day due to sedentary jobs, car ownership and modern living.

For a 200 lb, 6'0" individual, daily steps can burn:

3,000 steps: 157 kcals
5,000 steps: 262 kcals
10,000 steps: 523 kcals
20,000 steps: 1,047 kcals

See where this is going?

Bumping up your steps from 3,000 to 10,000 daily can have a massive impact. 

Over a month, that's about 11,000 extra calories burned, translating to an additional 3 lbs of fat loss.

Don't overlook this!

10k steps isn't some magic number that will suddenly cause fat loss to happen.

But if you're maintaining or losing slowly and barely get any steps per day, hitting 10k will make a big difference.
