A few people asked if I could show them how to use @runwayml Gen-2 image to video. I used it to animate my Midjourney image below. I'll show you how to do it in 4 easy steps: ( With several examples of my results ) [img:vid-_qNBaGbgg]
Optional: Create a Runway account if you don't have one already. Gen-2 is available on the free Basic plan. You start with 125 credits, but you'll need a paid subscription to purchase more. These are the prices for monthly & annual billing: runwayml.com [img:gif-SXvbET7MS]
Step 1: Choose Gen-2 on your Runway Dashboard or Home page. Inside the Gen-2 tool, click the image upload box at the bottom, left side of the screen. Drag & drop your image by hovering over the upload box or clicking "upload here": [img:vid-hruKypKWG]
Step 2: For image to video, you don't need to enter a text prompt, and it works better if you do not. Click "Generate" and wait about 2-3 minutes for your video to be created. You can leave the page & the video file will be in your assets folder when it's finished. [img:vid-qXtBSO8mM]
Step 4: Download your 4-second clip or use it in Runway's video editor or other tools. To download from the Gen-2 screen, click the top right corner of the video and use the download button that appears: [img:vid-jL1mEp-Jn]
So far, I've tested about 30 - 40 images, and the results are unexpected. I've had more usable videos overall. This is a good one: [img:vid-TLQxTlkEi]
And this one is not so good: [img:vid-YeNcbfK4b]
Recap Runway's image to video tool is extremely easy to use: 1. Open Gen-2 2. Upload your image 3. Generate clip 4. Download Video clips are still 4 seconds max, and you can add a text prompt to your generation, but it probably won't keep the composition the same.
If you don't have many credits remaining or you have a free, Basic plan - look at the example results posted online. That's why we're posting - to share our results to help you learn how to use the tool effectively. [img:vid-24o2JSkV7]
I haven't tried many photorealistic images, so my results are different than other creators. But I'm enjoying testing several of my favorite images to see them from a different perspective! If you've tried Runway's image to video, share your results below 👇 [img:vid-QjOmiYeOK]
