I spent $5,000 to advertise my book, Building Mobile Apps at Scale on my favorite iOS & Android sites/newsletters. I collected all stats and shared it with these platforms after. Most of the sites/newsletters said they never saw this type of "competitive" data before: t.co/DheNyE1IVJ

One very interesting takeaway I had: though it obviously felt expensive for me to advertise a free book, I got a sense most sites/newsletters could charge *more*. I had to schedule sponsorships 6-12 weeks in advance to get a single slot.
