fwiw: I consider myself a student of Watts, and i’ve received similar feedback on my own stuff: my belief is that its fundamentally about enjoying yourself (while having done the reading). also he put in the hours speaking Read * Enjoy * Speak is roughly ~(0.05)^3 or 0.000125 t.co/9pzl1kTIzm

people dont grok the volume, i think t.co/yJrNTCwBFd

part of the way he enjoyed himself was he was very mischievious and cheeky, which i think kept his material always fresh and surprising. he was a spiritual comedian always eager to poke fun at himself, subvert himself, and not take anything too seriously. sensitive to context t.co/ImcZhB0yYd

thats the thing that a lot of lecturer types seem to struggle with; past a certain point they’re doing stale half-hearted reruns. here i would quote Chesterton: Watts, at least while lecturing, had a child’s abounding vitality, in spirit fierce and free t.co/YZjDWpwhHD

closing with a thread of quotes: t.co/yJqHlPMh8u
