งต/ After the bombshell of the leaked SET Allocations, I'm stuck in Luxembourg, waiting for my flight. Here's my airport analysis...๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธโ๏ธ [img:PpXMqL5QF]
/ The first interesting thing is that only 145 schools have the same allocation as they did in 2021. That represents about 4% of schools. Given that 1,500+ schools didn't change their allocation once in the last few allocations since 2017, this is unusual.
/ There are schools with really weird allocations. For example, a school in Wexford with 2 pupils has 7.5 hours SET per week and a school in Mayo with 19 pupils and 40 SET hours. There are quite a few examples of this and not sure how it works with new algorithm.
/ The average allocation per pupil across the country has increased by 0.2. Again, this is unusual because from 2017 to 2021 there was a total increase of 0.1 per pupil over the 5 years.
/ 1602 schools have had their hours increased and 1477 have had their hours decreased. Only 114 schools have increased their allocations by at least 1 post while 34 have lost at least one post (mostly through being a closed school!)
/ Looking deeper into these numbers, it appears the schools that have increased their allocations significantly are developing schools. This suggests that these figures may not be as draft as I thought.
/ From this data, it looks, on balance, to me like the leaked hours were the intended ones but can't say 100% as some allocations are bizarre.
/ Ultimately, we're going to have to wait until the allocations are re-released next week when principals will scurry around like pigeons but that's for another Twitter thread. twitter.com/simonmlewis/status/1754196646936596587
