Word seems to have spread that I can help startups find new ideas, because 4 out of 5 of my office hours today were with startups who thought they needed one. I say "thought" because I convinced 1 of the 4 to keep working on their current idea.

If it seems surprising that so many startups need new ideas, remember there are roughly 250 startups in the current YC batch. So if 10% change their idea, that's 25 companies.

These office hours are much more tiring. But it's a very engaging puzzle to have to solve, especially in a 30 minute office hour slot. I don't always manage to get it done in 30 minutes. I've twice had to bring founders with me on the drive home, and one idea took two meetings.

@luismbat If they don't want to work on it, then they usually don't want to work on any adjacent idea either, so you're back to square one.
