This is an interesting point. It may be true of many people, but I don't think it's intrinsic to the nature of advice. I don't mind getting unsolicited advice. I care much more about the quality of advice than whether I solicited it. t.co/uwZ0S2MT75
In fact the lesson I'd take from this phenomenon is not to avoid giving unsolicited advice, but to avoid being the sort of person who resents being given it.
If you resent people giving you unsolicited advice, you're only a step away from resenting the world giving you unsolicited advice. And then you're really in trouble.
That made me ask: does the world give any other kind of advice? And the answer, interestingly, is that it does. That's what an experiment is: soliciting advice from the world.
