One of the most striking patterns I've noticed among the biggest YC cos is how consistently they still do YCish stuff internally, e.g. when launching new things. Being a startup is not just a phase companies go through. It can also be part of their culture ongoing.
I didn't expect that myself. I thought YC's purpose was to get companies airborne, and that once they were big they'd be much like other big companies. But in practice YC seems to affect their DNA in ways that continue to be helpful.
