10 yo is reading Animal Farm, and not having had the exposure to political news that an adult would have, he's finding it excitingly novel. "The pigs are doing the same things humans do!"
Orwell might find the idea a bit insulting, but 10 seems the ideal age to read Animal Farm. I read it in high school and although I found it entertaining, it was also a political lesson I dutifully absorbed. Whereas to my son it's a gripping thriller.
