📢 The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has recently launched an investigation into alleged tax evasion by agricultural brokerage houses. The evasion is estimated to be around a staggering ₹18,000 crore.

While farm produce is exempt from Goods and Services Tax (GST), the brokerage associated with it is liable to an 18% tax. It appears that some brokerage houses may have overlooked this crucial detail.

The DGGI will soon issue notices to these brokerages as part of their ongoing probe. This serves as a reminder for all businesses to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
