The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) has urged mutual fund distributors (MFDs) to be careful when quoting their Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN) with their ARN.
AMFI said that they will not entertain any correction to the GST number at a later stage. This means that if an MFD quotes the wrong GST number when registering for an ARN, they will not be able to change it later.
AMFI has asked MFDs to mention their GSTIN correctly and completely when placing an ARN registration or renewal request. They should also attach a scanned copy of the acknowledgment receipt of their new GST registration or cancellation.
The reason why AMFI is taking this step is to ensure that there is accurate information about MFDs on their records.
This is important for a number of reasons, including: ✅To ensure that MFDs are paying the correct amount of GST. ✅To prevent fraud and corruption. ✅To protect investors.
