The 2-months long Special All India Fake GST Registration Drive ended on a positive note. The outcome of the 2-month Special All India Fake GST Registration Drive was quite successful.

The drive was able to identify and cancel over 10,000 fake GSTINs. This is a significant number, and it will help to protect the GST ecosystem from fraud. The drive was a joint effort by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and the state tax authorities.

It was successful because of the use of data analytics and risk parameters to identify suspicious GSTINs. The drive also involved extensive field verification by tax officers.

In addition to cancelling fake GSTINs, the drive also resulted in the detection of several other fraudulent activities.

For example, the drive identified several cases of taxpayers using fake GSTINs to claim input tax credit (ITC) that they were not entitled to. These taxpayers have been issued notices and penalties, and their ITC claims have been disallowed.
