𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿? The Income Tax department conducts raids on Orris Group and linked companies, uncovering suspected tax dodging. Find out the details.

The Income Tax department conducted searches on the premises of a real estate developer called Orris Group and its linked companies in Noida and Greater Noida over suspected tax evasion.

These searches were carried out by officials from the North Western Region of the Income Tax department. Similar searches had also taken place in Gurugram the day before.

The Orris Group had been allotted land for a group housing project called Green Bay Golf Village in Sector 22D of the Yamuna Expressway Authority in 2011.

However, as of February 28 of a certain year, the group had pending dues amounting to Rs 761.99 crore towards the Yamuna Expressway Authority, making it the largest defaulter in the group housing category.

In June 2018, the Orris Group faced controversy when the Noida Police lodged an FIR against its subsidiary company, Greenbay Infrastructure, for cheating and forgery of documents after the Yamuna Expressway Authority identified these offenses during an audit.

The Income Tax department's raids on multiple locations belonging to different builders in the Delhi-NCR region over the past two days suggest a broader crackdown on tax evasion within the real estate sector.
