With cases of fake invoices being generated to claim input tax credit and evade tax, the Centre has asked states, including Goa, to initiate a drive against such fraud, particularly fake GST registrations.

GST intelligence has shown that fraudsters obtain fake GST registrations using PAN and Aadhaar numbers of poor people.

Goa Commissioner of state tax, S Gill has issued directions and guidelines to GST officials to verify the applications for GST registrations, including physical verification of the place where the business is conducted.
