Enhancements in GST Registration: Address-Related Fields and User Instructions Updated This update, dated July 4th, 2024, pertains to enhancements to address-related fields in GST registration functionalities. Hereโ€™s a summary:

๐—จ๐—ฝ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฉ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€: The validations for entering the address in address-related fields have been updated. For addresses in India, the fields PIN Code, State, District, and City/Town/Village are interlinked and must be selected from the autosuggestions.

For other fields, taxpayers can add alphanumeric values and limited special characters, but special characters are not allowed at the beginning of the entry. For addresses outside India, similar rules apply, with some exceptions for Zip Code, State, and District fields.

Proper instructions have been added to address fields regarding input values that are allowed or not allowed for the specific field. These instructions can be viewed by hovering over the icon.

The changes will not impact data already saved in the system, even if it contains special characters that are no longer allowed.

However, if a taxpayer files an amendment application and edits the tab containing address details, the system will validate the address based on the new logic.

๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€: The changes have been made based on the tickets raised by users who were unaware of the characters allowed and not allowed in address fields, which fields are editable, and which fields are to be selected from a drop-down menu only.

The changes apply to Normal Taxpayers-Regular, SEZ Unit, SEZ Developer, Composition, Input Service Distributor, and Casual Taxpayers.

The field of locality/sub locality is not mandatory. If left blank or mapped to another PIN code, the system displays a warning message. To continue with the registration, the taxpayer can click โ€œYESโ€ to proceed.

These enhancements aim to improve the user experience and ensure accurate data entry during GST registration.
