5000 summons issued to GST assessees in 6 months in Indore claims Tax Practitioners Association GST Dept.-Indore has been issuing summons to assessees in the last six months in cases pertaining to discrepancy in input tax credit, expiry of e-way bills and fake GST registration.

More summons pertaining to disputes related to tax liability and fake claim of input tax credit are likely to be issued in coming months.

In Indore, most summons issued by the department to assessees are related to wrong credit of input tax credit and place of business registered at the time of GST registration.

Tax Practitioners Association Abhay Sharma said, “The GST department has issued thousands of summons in Indore asking assessees to appear in person for disputed tax liability. Most cases are related to disputed tax liability arising due to ITC claim and e-way bill related issues”
