Ran the Scarsdale 15K this morning and my superfan cheered me on for the finish! Finished in 10th at 1:01:19 (6:35 pace). Perfect day.

First time really competing at something since my baseball days. I forgot how much fun it is when you get the adrenaline pumping. Had never done a training run sub 7-minute pace, but when the lights turned on…

Here were the splits (for any other running nerds out there). Plan was to start at 7:15 first mile and slowly pick up from there, but the starting gun adrenaline got the best of me and then I just tried to hunt.

Here were the stats from my @COROSGlobal for the full run. Pretty fun, winding course. Lots of short, steep hills test you. The HR seems too high to me, perhaps some inaccuracy from a wrist monitor. Maybe normal for a race for it to be that elevated? Any chest HR strap recs?

Wore a @WHOOP as well and it picked up similar set of HR readings, so maybe it’s right and I just grinded out 170+ for an hour.

Man, that was fun. Started running a month ago and now I’m addicted. Might try to run a 50+ miler this fall. Enjoying the hybrid lifting + running program. Style points with a little finish line flex.

Big shoutout to @kurtisjlin who I texted 3 days ago saying “You wanna run this 15k on Sunday?” and he showed up and did it. Guy had never run more than 5 miles in his life and he still came out and ran it. Lesson: Find friends that will show up and run a 15k on a dime.

Banged up today. I missed this feeling from my baseball days. Hard earned soreness—makes you feel alive. Hope everyone crushes their goals this week!
