One year ago, my wife surprised me with the news that she was pregnant. We hadn’t been sure we would be able to conceive naturally, so the raw emotion and surprise of the moment poured out of me. Yet another reminder that your entire world can change in a year.
How it started vs. how it’s going
This was the best moment of my life to date. Fortunately, there have been many “best moments” since. Hoping we can all continue to embrace every moment as a gift, not an entitlement.
By the way, I’ve observed that struggling with conception tends to be one of those things that people suffer with in silence. When you open up about it, you see that you’re not alone—you see how many people have struggled and gotten through it. Vulnerability is empowering.
And more broadly, recognize that the perception of the “perfect lives” of the people you see on the internet are never grounded in reality. Everyone has their own struggles. There’s no such thing as perfect. You’re never alone.
