On the last Friday of every month, I ask myself 3 questions: (1) What *really matters* right now? (2) Are my systems aligned with my long-term goals? (3) What do I need to cut from my life? The ritual takes 30 minutes and creates a window for reflection and course correction.
1. What *really matters* right now in my life? Am I dedicating the necessary energy to it? When you are in the trenches, it’s easy to lose sight of the important (and focus on the urgent). This question cuts through the noise. It forces you to focus on the top-left quadrant. t.co/q9srGHDgWA
2. Are my current systems and habits aligned with my long-term goals? @JamesClear calls the daily systems the "oars" and the long-term goals the "rudders". Are you rowing efficiently on the course set by your rudders? If not, what adjustments can be made?
3. What do I need to cut from my life to operate more efficiently? These might be: • Activities draining my energy • Tasks I’m dreading completing • Tasks I should be delegating • Toxic habits or relationships. Ruthlessly eliminate what is holding you back.
It has been an invaluable (and time efficient) exercise in my life. Try it today and let me know what you think. Follow me @SahilBloom for more stuff like this!
