San Francisco is finished as the tech capital of the world. This was obvious to some by 2019, obvious to most by 2021, and will be obvious to all a few years from now.

There is a silver lining in the dark cloud. The fall of San Francisco has decentralized technology out of the Bay Area and to the entire world. This was predictable even in 2019, though the pandemic accelerated it.

San Francisco also shows the world what a certain kind of politician is capable of, if only they had the budget. Given $13B/year for a city with less than 1M people, they turned it into a feces-strewn open air drug den. Like a born-rich nepotist putting his fortune up his nose.
